New Sony $499 BLU-RAY player launches in 7-10 days - Blu-ray Forum

Here is recent articles with updated info on the new list price of $499 for the Sony BDP-S300. Most likely in about a month after launch one will be able to find this new Sony BLU-RAY player at discount mail order Internet companies for around $399.

nice... but i'm keeping my PS3 as my main blu-ray player until blu-ray players all reach the $399-$499 mark

What is ACVHD?

agreed. it would also be worth waiting until movie companies have enough faith in the format to release movies worth buying. I'm not naming names... (Lucas, WB, Fox)

HD camcorder format from Sony, Panasonic, etc. Just take the DVD-RW from the camcorder, plop it in the BD player, and enjoy your home movies.

I just verified with one of my sources that the Sony BDP-S300 will be selling for under $410 from mail order discount companies about a month after launch. I am in shock that the online dealers are still selling the Samsung BDP-1000 for $469.99. They need to drop the price to at least $399 now or they will sit on product. They may even need to sale the BDP-1000 for $299 to get rid of inventory.
