Default Hannah Montana: The Movie

About a year ago I decided to give Hannah Montana a try. I started from the first episode and was instantly hooked. I loved that Miley and her dad were country. Also Miley was endearing, her friends were cool, and Jackson was hilarious. Sadly this cute little show exploded fast and instead of staying sweet they tried to be "edgy". I have not enjoyed the second or third season near as much as the first.

This movie might as well have been for me. My girl was back to her roots and I couldn't have enjoyed it more.

I think this movie has a surprisingly wide appeal. In order to keep the children happy they have slapstick moments but considering the show's comedic nature it works. Really though, I'd be surprised if the older fans and parents don't love it way more. The story is sooooo good. I probably appreciate it more than someone coming into it BUT this is still a great way to see what the show is, or was, all about.

Anyone with kids, an open-mind, or even just too much free time should give it a chance. Wait till it's on Blu-Ray and rent it if you're not sure you'd like it. You NEED to see my girl in her best thing ever!

Ok, my rant is done. Go MILEY! <33333

Not for me, i can't stand all this Hollywood overproduce crap, Miley, Britney and all these other pop stars who don't write their own songs is what is wrong with the music industry today, no wander why people download off the internet no body wants to been seen buying this junk.

Bring back rock n roll and traditional punk, and metal.

I don't mind you saying that. I realize the people here aren't the movie's target audience, or rather most people here don't think they are.

I just wanted to share that it made me happy and if people did give it a chance it might surprise them. If no one does than no biggie, life goes on. It is just a movie.

Ok, maybe a little more to me but you know what I mean.

There is plenty more wrong with the music industry today. But these compromise any artist integrity.

Whenever people say that only bad music is popular and sells I just think about how that person probably doesn't even support the "good" music he likes. Even if he does all the other people who like it apparently don't.

I realize they're saying the problem is the majority has bad taste but to me that just means the minority has to really support who they like.

i think what they are saying is a pretty face that can sing mediocre and has a radio catch in the song is gonna make tons of cash in today's industry, and the people that have raw talent are not! Unless of course they sell the writing and songs to those pretty faces so they can sing while sporting the newest in hollister fashion wear. All i gotta say is thank god for word of mouth because 98% of what gets radio play, mtv/vh1 videos ( for the 10 minutes at night they play music) i would not consider to be music. Hannah and the like all make me think we are not far off from the music in the movie demolition man

Well for starters country is not country anymore it is pure pop and that is it. There is nothing country about Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith or Tim McGraw no matter how much they try, or how many songs they write about beaches. Real pure country died in Trashville long ago. I am a hardcore country fan and if you want to find any of it today you must look to Hank Williams III (aka Hank 3) or J.B. Beverley and the Wayward Drifters, Kenneth Brian or Dale Watson. There are deemed "too country" for "country radio" and that is a god damned shame! There is most certainly nothing being done right out of Nashville so therefore wins of vote of everything that is wrong with the music industry.

Punk evolved into a bunch of subgenres, and metal still exists. Rock n roll never went anywhere.

Anyway, I gotta admit, I kind of want to see this. I've seen more than a few episodes and they're not unentertaining. And Disney is top notch, so I'm sure this thing can't be that bad. I'll probably end up catching it when it hits BD.

And if it means anything for my taste-in-music cred, I like the show despite the terrible music.

No I mean beaches, with sand and water because Kenny Chesney thinks being country is sitting on a tropical island with a cowboy hat, and so every song he sings is about the beaches and a chair and his hat. There is absolutely no heart in the "music" these pretty faces make and they have destroyed my beloved country music, Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings must be rolling over in their graves over this pop bullshit they call country music now with little teeny boppers at the forefront to slaughter it. And to think Waylon once said "Garth Brooks did for country what panty hose did for finger ****in" haha wonder what he'd think about Miley Cyrus, didn't her father do enough severe damage in the early 90's?

"I'd rather eat the barrel of a double barrel loaded shotgun, than to hear this shit they call pop country music on 98.1"

"Toby just don't cut it give me Haggard and give me Coe"

@krazyeyeyez I have not seen Demolition Man. My friend loved it and people seem to consider it a classic. I should put that on my long list of things to see.

I listen to what I like but that doesn't mean other people may not be listening to something just as good or even better.

As long as music helps people enjoy life I don't see how it could really be that bad one way or the other.

If the kind of music you like fell out of popularity that sucks. It really does. I'm not sure what makes the country you describe so different but if you can find some songs on youtube or myspace to show me I'd be interested to hear.

Edit. Btw, a lot of non-fans like Miley's "The Climb".

Still the rest of the movie is Hannah Montana. Those range to good to great like Hoedown Throwdown (catchy dance song) and Butterfly Fly Away (the sweet Miley/Billy Ray song).

For me the biggest things are a lack of new quality music, and as an audiophile the problem of the increasing loudness of records (resulting in a hugely reduced dynamic range and adds clipping amongst other things). Hers's the wikipedia to what i'm talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war Im actually suprised this issue doesn't come up more often, considering some of the equipement people have here.

If you have the dac to support it there are downloads (i'm talking about legal downloads as I don't download illegally) that are 24bit 96khz, which are anything but inferior to cd (in fact they are superior in terms of audio quality), the crap itunes releases however is in my opinion unforgivable. That bieng said all this rage for these new digital formats (including cd), and none of them live up to the audio quality vinyl allows for. (As a general rule I find that a budget vinyl player will out perform cdp's that cost twice as much).

The really HQ downloads is new to me. Where do you get them from? I might be interested in that. =o

It does seem like music is loud these days. It's good enough for me but I can see where someone more observant might be unsatisfied.

Writing is a completely different talent from singing. I've always found it fascinating that people insist that singers should write their own music.

Do you only watch movies where the lead actor writes the movie himself?

I mean we can all agree that Placido Domingo as probably one of the most amazing voices on the planet but I don't recall that he writes many of the songs he sings. Totaly agree with you Terjyn, not writting the songs you sing does not make you inferior to some who do sing their own songs. As a matter of fact there are many singers who write their own songs who should maybe let others do it for them because they are terrible.

OT I've watch the Hannah Montana show a few times here on the Disney Channel, did it more out of curiosity at first, wanted to see what the big deal was all about this Milley Cirus. The show is not bad, it's funny and I could see how it would appeal to a young audience. I think too many people forget how they were at 10-14 years old and tend to imagine they were more mature that they actualy were.

Miley does write some of her songs. I didn't bring it up because I figured everyone will say it's BS or something. Rather not have pointless arguements.

I don't get that either. I have a friend who loves Miley as much as me. She thinks its a HUGE deal whether Miley wrote it herself. I don't see what it changes. I think it's cool that she wrote it but it doesn't suddenly sound better or something.
