Hi,
I've heard the term whole house audio wiring, and was wondering what this meant exactly? For example, sometimes I see houses for sale and one of the benefits is whole house audio wiring...but...how can that be without a receiver and stuff....I feel kinda silly for asking Thanks |

In general it cosists of a category 5 wire, and 4 conductor speaker wire<2-pair>, run to a volume control/ keypad location in multiple rooms. As well as speaker wire from the volume control/keypad to locations for a pair of speakers in each room/location. All volume control/keypad wire runs go back to a designated area/head end location, to connect to multi-room distributed audio controller/amp. Various sources can be connected, such as an AM/FM or satellite radio tuner, etc. Speakers are usually in ceiling, but can also be in wall or surface mount.Hope this helps.
