Default Which Criterion release would you watch first

Hi folks, in the last few days I got myself a few Criterion titles and am really wondering by which one to start with. I want to be amazed by the Criterion treatment but don't want to be disapointed afterwards either. I keep on looking at the 5 cases and just can't decide lol.

Which one would you recommend, and why ?

Thanks

I like most of the flicks they have come out with.

But I won't be watching any of them anytime soon because I think they're overpriced.

My 2 centavos. Alot of other people here think they're worth every penny. Alot of really good BDs out there that are way under $20 each to consider paying the long dollar for Crits.

I haven't really paid attention to which ones are out on Blu but I will be picking up a copy of "The Ruling Class" when it comes out (if it hasn't already) because I can't get enough of Peter O' Toole in that movie.

My vote goes for "The Last Emporer" but I would like to see Criterion release some of the great Laserdiscs that they have in their library remastered as a Blu-Ray release.

I would watch "The 400 Blows" if you've seen the DVD.... you'll be amazed at the detail brought out in the Blu-ray.

The Last Emperor is a masterpiece with striking cinematography. Get in the mood for a lengthy film, an epic, and enjoy.

The Last Emperor seems to be leading the pack, but maybe because it's the more mainstream of them. Anyways you people have another 50 or so hours to make up my mind for me lol

I haven't seen or heard anything about this movie. Is this a porn flick?

XD Hardly a porn flick. It was Truffaut's third film and the one that put him on the map of the French New Wave of the 50's-60's. It's in B&W. Definitely worth seeing, but for sheer BD experience, I voted Last Emperor.

The 400 Blows (summed up) is the story of Truffaut's childhood.... and him being a "Bad Kid" (much more to it than that though)

As far as El Norte goes....... it's "The North" and I figure you know what it's about more or less since you said the premise looks good..... but either way, it's a good story because it still applies to modern times..

It's a good story.... I keep typing reasons why I like it, but feel I'm giving too much away, so I delete what I wrote..... so I'll leave it at "it's a good story"
