Talking Millar Comments on Wanted 2 Screenwriter

I had no idea Wanted brought in $342 million worldwide, the foreign market really loved this movie. Well apparently they have a ton of money to throw at the sequel so I wonder what kind of cast they will get this time?

Domestic: $134,508,551 39.4%
Foreign: $206,924,701 60.6%
Worldwide: $341,433,252

Last week, it was announced that Evan Spiliotopoulos has been hired to write the script for Universal's Wanted 2, based on a story by Chris Morgan. There was some negative feedback as Spiliotopoulos is credited as co-writer of Pooh's Heffalump Movie and its DVD Halloween spin-off. But Mark Millar, creator of the graphic novel and producer on the sequel, says that's not why he was brought on board.

"Never listen to any commentators as they never know anything about who's coming back, etc. It's just speculation and 99% of the time these guys don't have access to the people who know. 'Wanted 2' is being made in a very tight circle at the moment," Millar said on his message board.

"As a producer on the thing, I'm excited. I know who's in it and after doing 342 million at the box office we have [serious] money to spend on everything from cast to crew to script."

About Spiliotopoulos, he added that "This guy is supposed to be really good. He did a GREAT action script recently (on an unproduced movie) and that's what got him this gig."

Timur Bekmambetov is again directing and James McAvoy is expected to return for the lead role.

Exactly, they got Angelina and Morgan Freeman on the last one produced for $75million so I cannot image what this budget will be. I'm just glad to hear they have a ton of money for casting and script. I had no idea if this movie would be bigger or smaller than the last.

Arrow WTF? Jolie awaiting Wanted 2 script?!

How in the world do they plan on pulling this off?

Quote:
It was way back in July of last year that we told you despite her rather terminal condition at the end of the first film, Angelina Jolie would return to the Wanted franchise to reprise her ass-kicking assassin role. Well now it’s confirmed.

Variety says Jolie is waiting on a script for Wanted 2, which when done would possibly re-team her with director Timur Bekmambetov and co-star James McAvoy for another spin on the loom of fate. How exactly they’ll get around the bullet left in her head at the end of the first movie, remains to be seen, but it’s Hollywood. Anything is possible. Twin sister? Time warp? Industrial looming accident? It’s all on the table. We’ll see what happens once Angie gets a look at the script.

In addition to the Wanted sequel, Variety also says Jolie is teaming up with Fox 2000 for a film based on author Patricia Cornwell's books about medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta. There's 16 novels in all, and they're hoping for a franchise, with a series of thrillers in the vein of Silence of the Lambs or Se7en.

haha one of these days you'll beat me to it No, but that's cool when I just read that article from Millar a couple hours ago there was no mention of Angelina! That is wild and I have no idea how they'd bring her back, but she is more than welcome any way they call pull it out.

It's a movie that has curving bullets and millions of rats exploding at the same time, I'm sure they can find a way.

No idea who Sarah is but I want to see this sequel because I love shooting movies that defy convention...I saw it as Fight Club with guns, kind of.

This just in.

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are writing the script for Wanted 2.

Aliens are going to come down from space and resurrect Jolie from the grave. Then at the end she is going to swing from trees like Tarzan trying to escape stormtroopers with freak'n laser beams attached to there heads.
