Default Pioneer Kuro / Elite Support

I am not sure why so many people are still going after the Elite's, and the Kuro Plasma's. I just read several articles the other day that all said Pioneer is focusing solely on Audio now, no longer producing TV's and soon will no longer be giving support to their TV's. Why would you invest $3 - $6000 or more for a tv that you won't get any support for? Pioneer is laying off over 7000 people, all of whom are the workers who work and support the Kuro and Elite series.

I think they are planning on keeping an 8-year supply of parts on-hand for the present KUROs, so support should still be there. Just enough time for technology to change so much it won't even matter

I don't know where Pioneer has said that they would soon stop providing support for their tvs.

Pioneer Announces Display Business Change
Pioneer announced on February 12, 2009 it will withdraw from the display business by March 2010. While this has been a celebrated category for many years, display production is not economically viable at this time.http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...usiness+Change
For those consumers still considering purchasing an award-winning Pioneer KURO display, current models are available at our retail partners and Pioneer plans to continue supporting service needs, replacement parts and warranties. For more information about Pioneer’s restructuring, please visit:

It's not even a concern. Pio has made no such statement about not supporting the displays, unless it was this morning.........?

I would have the same question if I had not seen the picture quality of an Elite Kuro. Having owned on for almost a year, I can tell you there is no comparison to any other TV - Period!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Pioneer is going to rethink this decision within the next few months.

That's why I got mine...everything else is compared to this unit, and they're "almost as good" (and I'm talking some real fine gear from Panasonic, etc.)...

Might be years before others come up to scratch.
