Hey folks I would like opinions please. I have a Yamaha rx 1900 4 polk 70's polk center csi3 and polk PSW505 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer. I have enough to upgrade either my center speaker to the polk cs2 or buy the A2 - 300 subwoofer. So what should I do?

If it were me, I'd upgrade the Centre Channel first, as it is possibly and argueably the most important speaker in any HT setup. A better Centre Channel should provide you with enhanced dialogue output (read: clarity, crispness, detail), which in my opinion has a greater value to the overall sound we are all trying to attain.
On the other hand, if you are basically pleased with the performance of your current Centre Channel and the sub-woofer is a bit of an under-performer (to your ears), then the sub-woofer udgrade would be a smarter move for you. Try to ascertain which of the two choices would make the most substantial difference. This may take some additional in-depth critical listening on your part, before making up your mind. John |

You will see an improvement either way. A center channel upgrade always makes a noticible difference in the sound. If you are not pushing the sub to it's limits (bottoming out/ chuffing) then I'd say center upgrade. Otherwise go with the sub. Great choice for the sub, btw.
Note: You might actually want to go for the sub first because I think they are increasing the price on that sub soon. |
