COD WAW not playing in PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

Last night I ejected COD and set it on top of my vertically standing PS3. My wife and I proceeded to watch a DVD (not BluRay) in the PS3 with COD WAW sitting on top. Tonight I insert COD and the reading graphic pops up and then goes away but no icon in the game list. I tried several other games and blu ray movies which worked fine. The disc has no fingerprints or scratches. There are no marks or indications of excessive heat on the disc. I cleaned the PS3 laser with a laser lense cleaning CD. Am I SOL?

It must be that heat from PS3 did something to the disc.
Anyway is not really good idea to block cooling ports

^ Yeah hehe. Well at least I was already pretty tired of the game. But yeah, blocking air vents, won't do that again. I think watching $60 catch on fire would have been more entertaining. Live and Learn. Just don't tell my wife...

Update: I took the game over to a friend"s house and it played fine. So he told me to delete COD WAW files in the Game Data Utility and Save Data Utility. It still doesn't work. I've cleaned and restarted the PS3.

Anything else I should try?

I dunno, but I found my PS3 sometimes crashes after 2 or 3 hours when sitting it vertically. Must be because of less heat being dissipated or something. Try wiping the W@W disc with a microfiber cloth from center to outside, and try putting your PS3 horizontally.
