Netflix ships on Saturday?? - Blu-ray Forum

For the first time since I've been a subscriber, Netflix sent a disc out to me on Saturday, which I'll receive on Monday. Is this something new or have I been cheated for the last 10 months?

Doesn't it depend on when they receive a disc back from you?

But yes, if they receive a disc on a Saturday, they have always shipped out the next disc on that same Saturday. That's always been my experience anyway.

They've always shipped on Saturday for me, if that's when they receive my disc.

i have NEVER had netflix ship me a disc back out on a saturday and i have never seen them receive a disc on a saturday
i sent a movie back yesterday and they usually receive those next day, nothing going on in my queue today...

The discs I send back on Friday (or Saturday) have always arrived on Monday (unless they got lost). I send on Friday (and Saturday) to get the next week's new releases sent out on Monday, but for the first time ever my Friday send-in was received and processed on Saturday. Odd.

NetFlix just started adding Saturday service as of this month. Prior to that, discs sent Friday were processed Monday with discs sent that day. They also have not sent movies on Saturdays so again, you would have to wait until Monday for a disc shipment.

I know blockbuster would ship out on Saturdays when I was a member with them. I just joined again with netflix and so far they haven't shipped out on Saturdays. I have received movies on Saturdays (they were of course shipped on Friday). I'll have to check now and see if they ship on Saturdays. It will be nice if they do.

So, maybe they do ship out on Saturday now, but I just went to my mailbox and guess what? I didn't receive my "For Mon: Hellraiser" (my first ever "For Mon") on Monday.

Every time I want to like Netflix, they do something to make not like them.

I was a member for over 5 years (just switched after the latest price increase) and Netflix never once shipped a movie to me on Saturday. In fact, I'm not entirely sure they even work on sat. I had sent movies back on thurs only to have them be recieved on the following monday. I have only been with Blockbuster a few weeks so I can't really comment on their weekend hours yet.

Yep, same thing happened to me. Ship back Friday and get my release-date disc shipped Monday or Tuesday. Today I check my que and QOS is shipping out today.

I am back with Netflix again..... (should never have left them) and if they are now shipping/receiving on Saturdays....great..... if not... oh-well.... they still have a LOT better shipping/receiving times than Blockbuster online did....... That was the worst 2-3 months of service ever!

Why is this such a big deal?

I mean, speaking as a Netflix customer for about 2 years now, I really don't pay attention to when they get something or send something out...I just wait for it to show up in my mailbox, and it usually takes about 3-4 days each time, if not faster. I've only had it take longer one time, and I had to report the disc lost because it never showed up. They sent another out right away, and boom -- the next day I had it.

I've also heard people complain about broken discs...never had that happen...it seems almost ridiculous, because I can understand how it would be more than possible but Ive just never had it happen to me so I would not expect it.

I have seen discs that didn't play, 2 or 3 different times, but never had any problem getting a replacement. I've just never had an experience with Netflix that would sour my taste for their service.

I guess that's why I'm really confused as to why people are so flabbergasted or otherwise interested in what DAYS Netflix is sending out their DVDs. Any answers or guesses? Figured I'd ask here since it's kind of on topic.

I know it depends on where you live..... but for me, Blockbuster was terrible... and with Netflix, if I send out a DVD on Monday.... I have a new one Wednesday.... One day to ship, they receive it, ship the next one, and the next day I have it...

THREE DAYS EVERY TIME..... with that said... If it's a thursday afternoon, and I know I have a movie sitting around that I've watched.... I'll make sure to run it to a mailbox so I will have another show up on Monday, because they wouldn't (before I guess) send out movies on Saturdays...

either way, it's not that big of a deal.... but I know my wife has some days where she goes to work later, ...so I like to try to coordinate when we'll have movies because I know she's more willing to stay up late the nights before her "late days" (not that she's always up for a movie those nights either....) and on her later nights at work.... it gets too late for her to watch movies those nights.... so I plan on having movies I want to watch, that I know she won't want to see, on those nights..... (because I can watch a movie after our son goes to sleep, and before she gets home)

I'm really not "obsessed" with the schedule part of it..... but I try to plan on it when I can..... for instance, I have Hellraiser as the next movie coming, for a day she'll be home late.... and I'll make sure I have a movie she'll like show up after that.....

They've been shipping discs to me on Saturdays for a very long time. Maybe its a location thing as no matter what, its always a 3 day turnaround. Mail it out on Monday and receive a new disc on Wedsnday.

You do realize that it may not be Netflix's fault that it didn't arrive on Monday, right?

It means more movies per month. I'll receive at least 4-6 more movies per month if in fact they are shipping on Saturday. Better value is always a BIG DEAL to me.

Yeah, but just like when a disc gets lost, we turn to Netflix to remedy the problem, even though we know it was probaly USPS that screwed up. Maybe I should start a "USPS makes me mad" thread.

I've been a Netflix subscriber for about three years and never had anything delivered or received on Saturday. According to their FAQ, they still don't ship on Saturday:

I just joined again with netflix and so far they haven't shipped out on Saturdays. I have received movies on Saturdays (they were of course shipped on Friday). I'll have to check now and see if they ship on Saturdays. It will be nice if they do.
