Thumbs up Romancing The Stone

So my mum came to visit last week and she got her first experience with blu-ray. I picked Romancing The Stone first for her and did it ever impress.

First, considering it is from the late 80's, PQ and AQ are quite good. So good in fact, that in a scene in the jungle where it was pouring rain, my mum seriously thought it was really pouring outside and couldn't believe it was raining here in Los Angeles. Hahaha.

Anyway, great film. Any fans? If you haven't seen, give it a go, it's a fun film and still holds up after all these years.

I bought this and sold it fast. Sorry but the PQ had too much noise for me and the audio was bland. Not a great upgrade from DVD IMO

My wife is a huge fan of this movie, and I plan on buying it...after I buy a few more epics for myself that aren't yet in my library.

I really liked this movie it's clearly a "poor man's" version of Raiders but it's still lots of fun.

Danny Devito is always entertaining and I like it when Douglas plays smart ass type characters.

Overall the picture looked quite good especially the scenes in the jungle.

PS Ms Turner was really sexy back in the 80's...not so much now

This movie is definately one of my top25 movies. And I think the BD has good PQ and AQ. If you like the genre then you should get this movie asap.

Hey there. Cool shots. They look a bit different than my viewing, but I like them and thanks for sharing in this thread. Actually, it's cool reading everyones thoughts on this, good or bad.

I had to go easy my Mum with her first blu-ray flick as she is so...well...let's just say, not into Hellboy and such films. But she loved this film!

I want to get some screen shots with my set up. I will post later.

Agreed. I like the PQ on this disc a lot, very film like. The AQ isn't as great, but I still love that 80s era Silvestri score. The film itself is still fantastic, head and shoulders above anything contemporary adventure films have offered.
