Default Looking to buy polk!

Is it too much to want your speakers to all be the same brand? I own a polk cs10 center channel and and a psw 110 sub. Now I want to go with bookshelf speakers is that a bad idea?

It is always a good idea to match your center with your towers. Check out newegg.com as they have great delas on the Polk Monitors 50s and 60s.

The 50's or 60's are good, solid entry level speakers that will provide very good sound. As Blue Titan mentioned, you should always match your center speaker with a good set of tower speakers as your fronts and NewEgg is a great place for Polks! I have the CS10 and it is a very good center speaker in my opinion. The Polk Monitor 50's or 60's series or even the newer Polk Tsi300 or 400 series would timber match your CS10. The Tsi line is replacing the Monitor series. You would hear a slightly better "brighter" sound from the Tsi line over the Monitors, but his depends on your budget. Otherwise, they are basically the same speaker except for a better cabinet and the retail price is a bit higher.

Furthermore, Aerodude73 provided you with a good solid set of surrounds to complete your 5.1 Polk system. Good luck!

Yea, they came in Monday but I hadn't had time (2nd job) to install them. They're going up tonite, then i'll re-run Audyssey (though I'll write down my settings beforehand in case I need to adjust them after). Also arriving yesterday was the SubDude (for my frontstage/Main Sub), so I'll try to watch a movie with some low db's to see how it sounds with that. Great design on it.

I will hopefully by this wk-end (pics), and I think so (SubDude) but I still have to test it out (Great Low Db's Sub test: Hospital explosion scene in TDK, Osprey scene from "Transformers", Most of "HELLBOY II", to name a few), but it is a Perfect fit for my Main PSW10. PM me for pics of it.

** (Note: Damn, just found out my Beige Foam I ordered Sunday is still in the "Processing" stage, as they have to Cut the colored foam usually, vice the Charcoal which is readily available to ship. It might be going out in a day or 2, then 7-10 days to me. - Wth. Oh well, so now it "might" be to me by Next Friday but prob. a few days after that) **

that is what i said before about Tsi series & they go louder at same volume level....but it keeps getting shot down from people who say the Monitor & Tsi series are the same, yet it seems tsi run more efficiency IMO.

the TSi series isn't based on the Monitor series. It's placed between the Monitor and the current RTiA series, there has being improvements to it,like i said before...I've heard both Monitors,Tsi and noticed the difference also.

then i hear...*oh they look the same*...yeah sure, that could be said for any set of speakers on the market.

Don't take my word for it, call Polk. I would like to see you tell the difference in a double blind. The difference between the Monitors and TSis is the same as the difference between the RTis and RTiAs, cosmetics. It "isn't placed between them". It is an updated look. This is just straight up false information.

Again, if you don't believe me call Polk. They have told myself and several other people the same thing I am telling you.

How do you cut the raceways to make them the length you need? I bought some but have not tried to cut them yet. I mean.. do they cut easy with scissors? Should I use a cutting board?

Hey Don, have you thought about putting them up first and then painting second, just so you don't scratch the paint off while you put them up?

Just a thought.....

and by the way..... on finally getting these. I think you'll like the way this ends up looking much more than before.

I just used a razor blade for most of it, then my hand was getting tired and I used a hacksaw and it went much quicker.

Ditto! - Though I didn't get to really "test" my front sub with the new SubDude yet - maybe tomorrow/this wk-end with a good Blu or 2 - overall, the new system sounds great. Once I get the Wall mounts up for the 30's, I'll re-run the Audyssey to see if it makes things better or worse, or different.

I used a power miter saw which made it easy but sometimes the blade would catch it towards the end and nick it.. but nothing too bad..
