Default What Kind of Sound am I Getting?

I live in a small apartment, and have a very simple "home theater" setup. I love good sound, and video, but at this point in time cannot afford an elaborate setup. I just bought a blu-ray player - the Samsung BD-p1500. I did a lot of research, but in the end not quite enough apparently because I now realize it cannot decode DTS-HD Master audio (that or my timing was just bad because the BD-p1590 just came out, and it does).

Basically I run my blu-ray player directly to my Dell Ultrasharp LCD monitor

which has an HDMI 1.3 input, and HDMI Out via miniplug. My 2.1 speakers are Klipsch Pro Media 2.1.

Honestly my setup looks and sounds awesome. And I understand in the end that's all I should worry about - how it sounds to my ears, and looks to my eyes - but I want to know technically what I'm getting.

The Samsung BD-p1500 does decode Dolby TrueHD, but not DTS-HD Master Audio. I have the option (via the player - remember I don't use a receiver, it gets connected to my monitor via HDMI 1.3) of choosing PCM, Bitstream (audiofile), and Bitstream (regular?). I have it set for PCM. What happens when I play a disc with DTS-HD Master Audio with the PCM setting on my player? Or even a Dolby TrueHD disc for that matter? Am I getting the best audio possible considering my equipment? Or should I use the Bitstream (audiophile) option for DTS-HD Master Audio? Thank you in advance for your response.
