Default The PGA Tour & general Golf discussion Thread

Havent come across a golf thread so thought I would start one! Lets try and keep this going for the season.

I play in my local club with a 16 handicap.

Discuss what you like!

Will start with Rory McIlroy - winner of the Dubai Desert Classic today. What a great player! And only 19! Led from day 1.. fantastic. What a wonderful up and down on the last to win it.. Looks like he's playing his way into the Ryder Cup team for 2010 too!

I was on my HS golf team my sophomore year, I shot ~90 on 18 and could drive about 275 yards. I got kicked off for cussing out the coach.

Driver: Callaway Great Big Bertha II
Woods: 3- Cleveland Sport, 5- Callaway Steelhead III
Irons: Nike CPR
Wedges: Callaway Forged Vintage 52*; 56*
Putter: Odyssey White Hot

I used Callaway balls in tournaments.

I like golf...... but I am awful at it. I always say golf is like singing..... it doesn't matter how bad you are at it as long as you enjoy doing it.

Enjoyment is the key, exactly. I love to play it and really only watch when tiger is on. Yes there are many great players but it's different when he plays. Anthony Kim is fun to watch also.

Anyone watching the World Matchplay Championship??

Tiger is back!!

Seems quite comfortable against Jones - currently 2up thru 11.

The course in Arizona looks spectacular!!! (in HD )

In my bracket I had him winning today, then beating Hunter Hahan, then losing to Tiger. I have Ogilvy winning it all.

We had a thread a LOOONG time ago..... I think the winter killed it (for us not fortunate enough to live in areas that you can play year-round)

My game has gone down hill recently, but I'm still a solid 5 or 6 Handicap.

I carry an 8 degree Calaway Warbird with an extra-stiff shaft (pro-force I think... heck I can't remember, but it is a pretty freakin' good shaft... It's winter here )
Titleist 990b Blade Irons, Firm Steel Shafts.
Full set of Vokey Irons
Scotty Cameron Pro-Platinum Putter.

I don't carry any fairway woods..... it's 8 degree driver, or an iron.......

I'm not tall (5'9 or so) weigh 135 soaking wet, but I can drive the ball 320 or so, and hit my 3 Iron about 230 or so......

I found out a long time ago that I'd rather get home in 3 on longer par fives, than pull a 3 wood out, and get on in 4 or 5

i like playing golf, but i havent been in a long time, and i think its funny that when tiger was out, NOBODY seemed to care about golf, it was barely ever on talked about, and when it was, it was "how long till tiger is back?" even when it was on tv, the sportscasters didnt even seem to care

Well Ogilvy really held on for me there, winning in extra holes. Westwood really crewed my bracket though by losing to Cink.

Come on Mcllroy! I need him to take Mahan down.

I actually liked watching the larger tournaments when Woods wasn't there...... not that it isn't competitive when he's there, but it just seems to be a much tighter race in his absence.
