Default Blu-ray External

I've built dual layer burners with firewire. Would there be any issues of building an external blu-ray burner?

I don't imagine so since the speed is 2x-4x on all the burners. Thought I would ask though.

Thanks

I posted this as a hint for a guy who was looking to get a blu-ray drive for his dell, under the Blu-ray Recorders section, thread name "Blue Ray Burners". But in short the answer is a resounding yes, you can absolutely build an external drive, just get a external cd burner or if you can find the shell by itself by all means (you're going to be taking the burner it comes with anyways). Just make sure your BD drive has an IDE connection and its a simple swap-out. All optical drives run on a standardized protocol, which means regardless of the media type (cd, dvd, bd) the commands sent to burner are the same. I've done this a couple times without any problems at work, let me know how it goes.
Good Luck!!!
