right now im contemplating using a front projector in my theater room rather than my 67"...now im only going to be about 8-10 feet away..with the 67" being about 1.5' from the wall...the room is 19'x12' with two rows of seating...after doing a test fitting i find the 67" to give me a big picture at the current distance...besides pq, will i really benefit from going to an epson 6100 and 103" projector screen...or will it just be way too overwhelming?

I have 120" at 10 feet and I actually wish I could go bigger. I do not know what kind of eye fatigue people are getting but I have not had any. By the way I have the Epson Home Cinema 6100 you are talking about and I love it. Bigger is always better with movies. After you start watching the big screen you will ask yourself how you ever watched a movie on the 67". I have a 60" behind my screen and it is hardly getting used because it seems so small now.

I'd compare the feeling to that of what you feel when you walk into the lobby at your local cinema after watching a movie there ![]() It could just be me though.... I can get sleepy just watching a movie on the sofa in the living room in the afternoon, on the 37" LCD, and feel worthless for the rest of the day.... and other times I'm wired, and will watch a 3 hour movie on the projector at 2am I also average about 4-5 hours of sleep per night.... so I don't have the healthiest lifestyle ![]() |

For a television they usually say that you should sit somewhere between 1.5 and 2 times the diagonal size of the screen. For your television between 8-11ft.
For projectors the measure is typically around 2.5-3x the picture height in a constant height system or 1.25-1.5x the picture width in a constant width system. For a seating distance of 10' that equates to an anamorphic screen of 104"-124", or a 16x9 screen of 92"-110". Obviously these are just suggested screen sizes. IMO, if you can fit a projection system in your room, then there is no reason why you shouldn't get one. |

I agree size matters and see no issue for you going to that large size screen. To me a front projector is always the best as I use it for both TV and movies. Mount the projector without a screen and just display it on the wall and zoom it to as large as you find good for you then buy a screen about that size. I am about 10-12' away from a 110" screen and would rather have a screen another two feet wider! |

I really believe that it is a matter of personal preference. Could you sit in front of a 103" screen at 8 feet? Sure. Would I? No. I would go with a slightly smaller screen, but I don't believe that you HAVE to. Try projecting on to the wall first - if you are able to - to determine what size of picture works best for you, and then go with that. Hope that helps. |

I sit around 8' to around 11' or so away from my 106" screen. I actually like that the image is overwhelming. I find it more realistic than being able to see the entire environment all at once on a smaller screen, if that makes sense.
