I hope I'm not the only one. I guard my BD collection like I would guard my child (don't have one!). Last night I had a couple of friends over and they have a ps3 (SDTV) but don't really have any BDs.
Out of my collection they wanted to watch The Incredible Hulk. We watched it, they enjoyed it, they complimented my setup and collection. They said "Oh I wouldn't mind watching Ironman." I blurted "When you watch it, be sure to watch all the way to the final credits." Then the inevitable, they set up the trap for me and I walked right into it, "Can we borrow Ironman?" I hesitated then said, "yeeeeah surrrrreee." I didn't want to, but I lent it anyway. =( Part of the joy of BD is 99% of my friends are DVD only so nobody can borrow my movies. Am I alone here? Nope, you're not alone. I hate loaning out my discs because it comes back all scratched up with a zillion prints all over it.

This may not be easy indeed. But you have to stand for your stuff and go: Sorry but I am very strict with my Blurays and last time I lent a DVD it came back scratched so I rather not take any chance.
I hate when a friend does not respect one's possessions and lays that kind of trap. |

Most people have Netflix or Blockbuster... Just remind them.
I don't like lending out movies. I do have a DVD loaned out currently... I've never loaned a Blu Ray and don't think I ever will. People need to come watch the stuff here or log onto Netflix. -Brian |

I lend them but I make a joke out of it at the same time.
1- I have DVD Library cards...just like the old library cards, with a stamp system. 2- I tell hem they have 2 weeks and stamp that day o nthe inside card. 3- I take the disc out and show them no scratches 4- I tell them I know I sound anal but I have a little brother who ruined all my shit as a child and I am scarred 5- They are told if it is returned by the date and in the same condition, they are more than welcome to borrow more. It sounds dicky when you read it, but it is all in the delivery. They will both get the point and laugh at you. |

I hate loaning out movies. Why do I have to ask somebody 3 times over 7 months to get it back?? They're like, oh sorry I forgot I have it and haven't watched it yet. Then why did you borrow it??????? It makes me feel bad for asking, but I think if I don't I'll never see it again. I'm so glad my friends and family don't have a blu ray player. It's the perfect excuse!

I hate lending my BDs I have a couple of friends who never take care of the stuff I lend so now I hate lending stuff. I guard my BDs like nothing else lol I hate letting people borrow them and return them with scratches, that pisses the hell out of me or when they go and ask for a movie and I'll tell them not to take the new BDs I just got because I haven't seen them and it's the movies they take that irritates me!!

I'm pretty sure it was William Shakespeare who wrote:
"Never a borrower nor lender be." Depending on the person, I either say: (shakes head no) "Sorry dude, I just got it." or "Nope...I don't get into that." If I'm talking to someone who is NOT sitting in front of my collection, I will just say: "Sorry, my friend borrowed it, which reminds me, I need to get that back." Screw loan things to people. |
