Default Biggest surprise in 2008 for u?

Just wondering about movies that surprised you in a good way or bad way. For me the biggest surprise was (Let the Right one in). i heard some good things about it ,so i rented it and its my favorite vampire movie of all time just ahead of Shadow of the Vampire. If u haven't seen it watch it...i got so into the two main characters and there world, and the pool scene is soo amazing and shot really well...just a great movie...

I'd say Wall-E, I saw over 30 movies in theatres last year, it's the only one I don't have on blu-ray.

Iron Man. I went in not expecting much from it nor did I know anything about his origin. LOVED IT.

Hellboy 2, but only because I hadn't seen the first one at that time.

EDIT: I also have to show some love for the underrated Prince Caspian. Love the overall look and feel to that movie, and the blu-ray is top notch. I hope Fox doesn't screw up the next one.

Looking at my video list (for both DVDs and Blu-Rays), I've determined that about 50 of my titles were released in 2008, and many of these are favorites of mine. That's a surprise.

Of these, I think the only one that really surprised me was the new Thai movie "Chocolate." The action/stunts/fights were more brilliant than I imagined; the story was more touching than I thought it would be; and the characters were way better than I expected. I loved it.

Other ones would be "Waltz With Bashir," "Postal," "Wanted," and "The Dark Knight."

"Seed" was really a surprise too, but not necessarily in a good way.

Agreed. I would have to go with Iron man as well. This movie was so much better than I was expecting.

Most surprising in a good way -

Gran Tarino - I knew next to nothing about this movie, except someone told me it was "good." Awesome, awesome movie.

Most surprising movie in a bad way -

There Will Be Blood - Boring as hell, and pointless to boot. Go ahead. Drink my milkshake!

Iron Man. I have never been an Iron Man fan, just the usual Batman,Spider-man and X-Men, but I thought I would go see it just because it was a comic book movie. I don't think I blinked once. The movie was far better than any expectations I had.
