Hi I'm looking to hiding my cables and I would like to run them be-hide the wall for clean setup, but I'm very new to home theater set up and I was wondering if anyone can offer easy way for run cable be-hide the wall or I also want to know about the raceways and where to buy them and any recommendations. Also I would like to keep a low budget for this fix up. Thanks for all the help.

You could pull up your base molding and tuck the wiring behind it. Another option would be to run your wiring up inside your wall and run it it your attic space. The way I ran mine was to run it up inside the wall and pull it out at the top. I then stapled it to the wall and ran it to where I needed it, then dropped it down inside the wall. Now I just need to run the crown to hide the wiring. Whichever you decide be sure to use wire rated for in-wall use.

There is no way to hide the cables in the wall without ripping out some drywall. If your running cables horizontal through your wall you would have to cut a square in your drywall to drill holes through your studs. Then feed the wires through your new holes and patch up the drywall. Don't know where you live but I believe the standard is 16inch spacing for studs. If your not good at using tools or don't want to mess up your room I suggest you do raceways.

What I did was add another piece of trim moulding above my baseboards and gouged out a 1/2 inch channel for my speaker wire. This way I didn't have to fuss with removing and reattaching the baseboards and it adds a nice bit of architectual detail as well. The piece i used was very similar to the moulding in the top left of this picture: http://www.blueoxmill.com/Chair%20Ra...20Moulding.jpg |
