Default Make a decision for me!

Hey guys, I have been looking to upgrade my bookshelf surrounds. I currently have some cheap polk’s (T15 99$) and wanted your opinions. I listen to a lot of concerts on Blu but mostly movies. I do not use my set up for other radio/CD listening. Any suggestions? I am always looking to grab a good deal so the size of the deal will determine what I am willing to pay. I would prefer a bit more mid range but I know that is not what your surrounds are normally for. Remember, you suggestions will directly influence what I purchase!!!
Open for suggestions!

Based on what you said the Monitor 40's or the equivalent TSi's would be best. However, the 40's are really large so take that into consideration. The 40's can easily be crossed over at 80hz or lower, which should match up with most setups.

You forgot to mention if you use a stand or they are mounted to the wall currently. Anyway, like aramis stated, the 40's are big and rather heavy and there may be the added expense of needing bigger/better stands for these if you are using them currently for smaller surrounds than the 40's.

EDIT...brain fart...I am the one who forgot to check your gallery....LOL! Anyway, those current surrounds you have look rather large already, but are you thinking of putting them on a stand or the wall instead of resting them on your end tables? It would provide more space on the end table and possibly give you better sound than where they are now. I got to get another cup of ......

you might just want to mount the bookshelves if possible from you pics the positioning of them is not that good. You want to have them 60-90 cm above listening level if possible and aimed toward the listening area. I don't think that replacing the rears will make that large a difference if the new ones go in the same place.

Question: Seated, my listening position is about 3' off the floor, so I'll be installing my wall mounts at about 5' on either side of the couch on the far walls, facing towards me. I know I can "try different angles" to determine what sounds best to my ears, but still they should be angled down a bit towards Me, correct? (vice just 5' up, facing each other across the room). I've seen both in some of the galleries here but you'd think having them angled down a bit towards the main listening area would work best.

I do move them when using them, it is just that my wife is picky and wanted them to look "nice" and in the corners. I know they still are not in the proper location as the size of the room dictates my setup. Mounting on the wall is out of the question and my wife would never let it happen. I wonder how much bigger the 40's are?

So I guess the question is, would it be worth upgrading from my current surrounds based on the location they are at.

The positioning isn't that bad at all, looking at your gallery. I think people get too hung up on that sometimes. Yes, it's going to impact your surround soundstage slightly. You might want to experiment with pointing them directly at each other.

I see you already have the TSi equivalent of the monitor 40's. You should try playing with placement of them as a test. One thing that will help is that the 40's are taller and will peek over your couch a bit more. May help improve the sound.

That is a good point. I actually do end up pointing them at eachother and moving them towards the front of the table (to avoid being muffled by the couch) and I do get plenty of sound. So I think I am leaning for the 40's so far.. Will I be feeding these enough juice at 105W per channel? will I be looking at more mid range?
