The Vatican Gives Angels & Demons A Positive Review

Had a chuckle at this.

The part of this Hollywood Reporter article that surprised me wasn't the fact that the Vatican is OK with Angels & Demons-- I thought we all agreed that Ron Howard isn't really capable of being controversial. No, I was surprised to learn that the Vatican has its own newspaper, and to boot, a film critic, who reviewed Angels & Demons and called it "a gigantic and smart commercial operation." Sounds like a review fit for a poster to me!

The reviewer also compared the movie to a video game, which now makes me wonder about the Pope and the Cardinals sitting around playing Xbox on slow days. But yeah, of course the Vatican has given the pass on Angels & Demons-- they realize it's probably going to be a giant hit and want to be on the right side on this one. Now they should worry that the fact that they have their own newspaper will be more fascinating than Angels & Demons itself.

Of course they gave it a positive review...they bastardized what it should have been...I fault Ron Howard for caving in to them...he should have stuck it to them and stated it was for all the little boys who are traumatised for life.

Ya...I thought they were against these films...they kicked them out of Rome didn't they? I remember when I went to see Da Vinci Code, people were protesting. It's a movie and it's pure fiction!!

This is going to sound odd, but in reality, the Vatican's newspaper doesn't necessarily reflect the views of the Catholic Church.
