In-ceiling speakers...

A friend of mine is asking for help picking out HT audio equipment for a new set up. He is doing a 7.1 system. He has the 7 speaker spots already wired and needs to buy the speakers, AVR, and sub. He is looking to spend about $1K. I am not familiar with in-ceiling speakers at all. Any opinions or recommendations as far as the speakers first?

I have a couple older pairs of the $169 8 inches, and they do the trick.

Also, can anyone recommend what to do in regards to the center channel? Should it be the same as the left and right in the front stage?

Lots of discussion regarding this. Ideally yes you want to timbre match your front soundstage.
