PLOT: The story follows a boy named Thomas who wakes up in a strange place called the Glade with no memory aside from his first name. The Glade is an enclosed structure populated by other boys, and is surrounded by tall, stone walls that protect them from monsters called Grievers that live in the Maze, which surrounds the walls around the Glade.

Every day, some of the kids who are Runners venture into the labyrinth trying to map the ever-changing pattern of walls in an attempt to find an exit. As soon as Thomas arrives, unusual things begin to happen and the others grow suspicious of him. The Maze seems familiar to Thomas, but he’s unable to make sense of the place despite his extraordinary abilities as a Runner. When the first girl arrives in the Glade, she brings a message that she will be the last one to ever arrive in the Glade, as the end is near

Sounds interesting. But with that director and this premise the movie will probably be another sparkle fest. Will look into the book.

Sounds cool but wish they would get another director as it seems she can only do Twilight movies.

Ameen will play Alby, the honorable but stern leader of the Gladers. Will Poulter is already onboard, while Thomas Brodie-Sangster is in negotiations for a role.

Shooting kicks off this spring in Louisiana.

Method Studios, a VFX studio that has worked on numerous films (The Avengers, Cloud Atlas G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Argo, Captain America: The First Avenger, X-Men: First Class, Oz: The Great and Powerful, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Iron Man 3) will be working on the visual effects for The Maze Runner.

Based on the book by James Dashner, the first book in the sci-fi trilogy is described as follows:

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he's not alone. When the lift's doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they've closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

Scodelario is no stranger to genre filmmaking. She made her acting debut in Duncan Jones' sci-fi tale Moon. She's best known recently for her ongoing role as Effy Stonem on "Skins."

How good are the books in comparison with the other "Young Adult" mainstays? (Harry Potter, Twilight, Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games)

Well I never read Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, but it is better than Twilight and as entertaining as The Hunger Games. At least to me.

I'm excited for this because of Dylan O'Brien. That kid is awesome! Please don't be another YA bomb. That softcore porno looking movie Vampire Academy needs to change dates too. We can't have two YA movies opening on the same weekend.

Yeah I'd much rather see this do decent than Vampire Academy. I hope that does horrible.

I could not believe how bad that looked. So cheap! It's incredibly difficult to believe it's getting a theatrical release. It will do worse than Beautiful Creatures.

Don't know much about it at all but have seen some stills from the film. He's going to be a star

Didn't the movie just finish filming or was still filming when the trailer was released though? I'm not being too hard on it yet since it's the writer of Heathers and director of Mean Girls.

I don't know but I can't see it turning things around THAT much.
