Default Poll: The Dark Knight or Star Trek (New One)?

As we all know, The Dark Knight made a ton of money and stands at no.2 at the box office. TDK was good movie but not many people gave it a round of applause before or after. However, as I read the threads from Star Trek, it seemed like a better movie because people cheered for it a lot more than TDK. So submit your responses in the poll or in the thread.

I already voted for Star Trek because I already have good feeling I'm gonna like it better than TDK because the previews look better than the whole movie of TDK.

I liked both movies, but, if I had to make a number one choice it would be Star Trek because it had more action and more lively story. TDK was mostly gloom and doom without too much humor; which is good for that type of story. My vote is for overall, so i'm not saying TDK was bad as much as I'm saying that ST had more upbeat moments in it. I love them both, just one a little more than the other!

Star Trek = Great, fun movie - especially for a Star Trek movie.

The Dark Knight = One of the best films ever made, and will stand as a classic of the comic book and crime noir genre for all time.

I'm pretty sure people won't be studying and analyzing Star Trek in 20 years in film classes, but they will for The Dark Knight.

I doubt either will be given much consideration. They might be briefly discussed as trends but probably not critically looked at. I haven't seen Star Trek yet but The Dark Knight isn't structurally sound enough for the last 1/3 of the film to be canonized. Of course, the future of film history is unpredictable since the home media market will now have great influence over what films can be re-watched and reevaluated.

Wow, as a big fan of The Dark Knight I'm surprised this thread is even of existence, kinda raises expectations for Star Trek.

From the sounds of it though, Star Trek and Batman Begins seem stronger for comparison-sake.

Really! The Dark Knight is that bad in your opinion, even though you own it.

The extras are fantastic. Specifically the two History Channel documentaries.

Way more rewatchable than the film will ever be. Especially the psychology one.

i havent seen star trek yet but i plan on doing so soon and im sure i wont be disappointed

that being said, ill probably still vote for TDK, but i really hope this doesn't turn into just another hate thread...there have been plenty of those already

edit: also, i agree with Blu Buddha below me. they're 2 different movies...i personally think dark knight has deeper themes and more layers than just the surface standard action one, while star trek seems like the more "entertaining" of the two, with a wonderfully enjoyable story wrapped around great characters and eye candy.

It's like saying "Potatoes or Lemons". They're 2 completely different movies.

If you're asking which movie will I watch more then I'd say Star Trek because - it's pure entertainment and brings back a lot of childhood memories and feelings. However, I think Dark Knight is a better film and much more thought-provoking than Star Trek - but not as fun to watch. Like Godfather vs The Departed. Departed is more entertaining but Godfather is a superior film.

Maybe not analyzing either film in 20 years, but ST will still be around. TDK at that time I am sure will be forgotten by all but Batman fans.

well as long as you're respectful about your own opinion i see no reason why other people can't be too last i'll say about it.

i think a big question will be: which ends up making more in the BO in the long run...i still am going with Dark Knight, but im guessing trek will top off around 350-400 mil domestic
