Lifelong ranch hand Ross Bodine decides cowpunching is no kind of life. So he and a raw cowboy half his age rob a bank to get the cash each needs to improve his lot. An indignant posse is soon in pursuit. Filmmaker Blake Edwards made his name with The Pink Panther and other comedies, but he also showed great skill in other genres with the thriller Experiment in Terror, the drama Days of Wine and Roses and this nuanced paean to the West. In performances perfectly matching Edwards’ balance of rowdy comedy and hardscrabble period realism, William Holden and Ryan O’Neal play the fugitive saddlebums, with Holden drawing special praise. “As he grows older, he grows better like a great old wine. All the reverberations from the previous roles are beginning to sound” (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times).

WILD ROVERS is a major western of the 1970s. This is an important release.
If you're a Blake Edwards fan it's as essential as A SHOT IN THE DARK.

No it seems to have been the first presentation of the 139 min version so the BD should be the same.

I had little hope this one would ever make it to BD, as it was only ever released on BDR. Not into westerns but Mr Edwards I will make an exception, especially as I've only seen the shorter cut.

Hoping WB Archive considers another Ryan O’Neal film THE BIG BOUNCE for a summer release.

What happened to this title? I preordered before the Feb 26 release date and over a month later Amazon is still saying that it won't ship for another 1 - 3 months. Is this common for Warner Archives?

This is a common occurrence with Amazon concerning MOD titles. It's available at other retailers such as Best Buy, Bullmoose, Deepdiscount, etc.

What's the craic with this then? Is it region free (I'm assuming it is just need clarification)? Can't find it anywhere but on Amazon and it's a little pricey for me at the moment. Similarly, the Blu Ray of Ride The High Country has disappeared from WowHD.

All WAC (and Warner Bros. releases in general) are region free.

Cheers mate. I know you clarified on this before, I just like to double-check sometimes before I order especially with WowHD and this site sometimes listing stuff as Region A only.

I received my copy of Viva Zapata the other day and upon inspecting it, the back cover reads Region A, was absolutely gutted but it loaded up fine when I put it in. Thought it was a pretty decent movie by the way, should have been widescreen though.

Yeah, Fox/MGM for the US is guilty of labeling only "A" for their region free releases. Their catalog releases tend to be region free but there are still exceptions (the '08 Bond releases, Patton, The Longest Day, etc). I thought "Viva Zapata!" was pretty solid, those Mexican landscapes screamed CinemaScope, and I can see the inspiration for "A Fistful of Dynamite" (though, personally, "A Fistful of Dynamite" does a much better job conveying the themes of the flaws of revolution and a better emotional punch).

Hopefully WAC will give us THE CAREY TREATMENT next. It's the only Blake Edwards film currently owned by Warner which hasn't made it to BD.
