Default The Poseidon Adventure (1972) ???????

Where is this title FOX? The Towering Inferno has been out for several year now. Next year is the 40th Anniversary of this disaster classic and cult film...will we finally see it released? If anyone has any details or information on this title I would love to hear it. Also, besides this title, what other disaster classics would look great in HD?...thanks

IIRC, there's legal/rights issues that's blocking future home video releases of the film. I don't know what exactly, but that's the reason why Fox discontinued the two-disc special edition on DVD despite the fact that The Towering Inferno remains in-print on both DVD and Blu-ray.

Thanks for the info...although I'm sorry to hear this...was truly looking forward to this title in the near future...saw a great print of it a couple of years ago at the Egyptian theater in Hollywood...it looked amazing...incredible detail and picture...was thinking it would look great in HD...oh well, guess I'll have to wait it out a little longer...damn

What a shame The Poseidon Adventure is caught up in all this legal tape. Who would've thought My Fair Lady had a chance to make its way to Blu-Ray with all the legal contractual issues... and that's now happening. Fox and Warner joined together to avoid legal hassles when they both set out the make separate movies based on the same premise/storyline and wound up creating another successful co-production with The Towering Inferno. Don't give up. Where there's a will there's a way and you know we'll all jump on board to purchase our own Blu-Ray upgrade when it becomes available.

Well, If you "can get" the special edition DVD, I would highly recommend it. The transfer was well done and the looks fantastic in up converted to 1080.

With that said, I do agree it's time to have this title brought to Bluray in all it's glory. One of my favorite disaster movies of the 70's right behind Airport 77

FOX has said they will be releasing "The Posideon Adventure" on blu-ray in 2012 for the 40th Anniversary not to long ago - where did you hear there were legally issues?

Good news to hear The Poseidon Adventure is to be released in 2012 at long last.
Perhaps the above report is "old news" after all.

and formula72...you are correct...I do have the SE of The Poseidon Adventure and have nearly worn it out...ha It does look great so I can only imagine how much better it will look in HD...there is so much fine detail in this film that I know a good presentation would really bring that out...
