Australia la vie en rose

I wasn't sure where to post this (so modes if there is a better place for this to be please let me know and delete this thread), but I thought some may like to know that the blu ray release of la vie en rose in australia is region free.

PQ and AQ are reference quality as well, though suplements are ver bare bones (but that was to be excpected).

According to this thread, the disc is 1080i/50 and defaults to DD 5.1 instead of the lossless track. I can't find anything more.

As a side note, I really wish distributors would post full specs with each release on their web sites.

I can say it does default to the DD5.1 for me, which is annoying but not the end of the world as the lossless track was included and I didn't experience any of the surround problems same have stated as having. Though I only watched the entire film on two channel via headphones, but have watched at least 40 minutes on my 5.1 set-up.

If someone could tell me how to check the video resolution I shall do it. (the only way I knew of is to use anydvd and trhen to open the specific .m2ts file with tusmxr but I don't have anydvd anymore (as I have no need for it), so was wondering if anyone new another way on a computer.

Has it actually been confirmed if it isn't 1080p. If its not 1080p it is the best looking 1080i content I have ever seen. I would be very suprised if it wasn't 1080p. (just checked the back cover and it does indeed say it 1080p, but if someone could confirm it would be appreciated.

One of the reasons I asked for a tech confirmation is because there is an Icon release (Icon in the UK, not AUS), aside from the French ones, which I assume has been ported to the land down under. I would be very surprised if the Australian release isn't a replica of the UK one.

I'm interested in this question as well. There is no excuse for any Blu-ray to be in anything other than 1080p.

Australia probably misses out because they are relegated to a strange process. It's my understanding that many BDs can only be found online in Australia, and that many online shops have slow stocking/delivery times. This, in addition to the comparatively small Australian market for Blu-ray, could force Aussie distributors to use cost-cutting methods on some discs (such as 1080i, which can be sourced in a HD broadcast master), making our friends from down-under miss out.

I love this movie, and really want to see it in HD, I owned the Extended edition DVD. Is this release region Free, and does it provide both the extended edition and theatrical versions? Also is it worth getting the Blu ray version or the HD DVD version, that version is encoded in 1080p and has a dolby trueHD soundtrack, but it is hard to find and is expensive. I see the Blu ray here is in 1080i and has Dolby digital (that is unfortunate), so are there other versions avalible?

Not sure if its 1080i, but if it is its not apparent in the video quality (maybe i'm hald blind), it also has a lossless DTS audio track.
