Default New Panasonic portable Blu-ray player

Hi everyone ! I own over 200 blurays in addition to 180 previously own dvds.I love to take my movies on the go. I own a Tosiba portable dvd player with a screen resolution of 1020/600. My dvds look great, but can't take my blu on the go. Panasonic just came with the first portable blu-ray player, but the with a screen resolution of 1020/600. Is it worth it or should i wait for a better resolution?

I believe your statement but do you have a link for that? I would like to look at it and look at the specs.

It depends how bad you want it. If I were you, I'd wait until the price drops a couple hundred dollars down. I regret buying my 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p when it first came out. It cost me $1299+tax. But then again I don't regret it that much because I like my tv.

For a screen of that size with a "book reader" viewing distance, it will still look great. I doubt most people could discern greater clarity at that distance. But I know it will be an improvement over DVD. It does output to 1080p which is great for hotel rooms with HDTV but only a DVD player in the room.

I say go for it. I know I would like one.

Funny,it seems like we both piced up the same tv SharpLC-32D62U at around the same price. It does not compare to my Sharp LC-52D85U at 200 dollars more I just got,but prices are going down and I love them both. I guess I should wait, but blu on the go as oposed to a laptop is the way to go.

Since the resolution of this Panasonic (1024x600) is the same as your own portable dvd-player appearently, I can't see (no pun intended) a huge difference.

Only the comparable-sized (but much thinner and lighter) Sony TT290 has a higher resolution (1366x768), but with the BD-drive it starts at $2,650, unfortunately.

It is actually an 11 inch laptop with a built in bluray drive. Here is the Link:

I just viewed the SonyTT290 very nice, but not entirely portable its a laptop. I cant use it in the car for the kids and the keyboard gets in the way.Labtops are OK but portable is the to go.

If you can spare the money, I just would invest in a laptop for mobile viewing...and an a/c adapter for the car

Pardon me asking, but what makes a laptop less portable? Most portable dvd-players feature a 2-4 hours playback time, while many laptops offer (optional) larger batteries with playback times ranging from 2-10 hours (or more).

They all come with (or optional) car- and airplane-adapters, so you can use them in your car as well. You could even buy a carmount from your cardealer (or eBay) with an universal mount or tray for laptops, etc. Maybe your car already has trays in the back?
