Haven't seen the Shrek sequels or DM3 yet. All I can say right now is that I prefer DM1 over Shrek, and I'd probably take Puss in Boots over Minions.

Despicable Me, no question. Shrek got very boring very quickly for me.

It's funny how both franchises go down the same road. Both a really enjoyable first one, both disappointing sequels and mediocre spin-offs. I would say Shrek is the best in all the vs options here. But I haven't seen DM3 yet.

For every possible aspect: script, animation, characters, world-building, fun and so on Shrek. But I hate Despicable Me.

Shrek and Shrek 2 are better than all the Despicable Me movies but Shrek the Third is downright despicable (see what I did there). Also the only good thing in Minions is the 3D, other than that it belongs in the dump bin.
