Default Background on Blu Ray Movies Looks Grainy

Background on Blu Ray Movies Looks Grainy - if there is a scene where the background is out of focus and is far away my new Panasonic plasma always looks extremely grainy - especially on older movies that werent shot in HD. Is there a way to fix this? I'm using a PS3 as the Blu ray player.

Film has higher resolution than 1080p. Just thought that I'd point that out. Also, the grain is part of the film itself.

Cuz they weren't in HD. The HD makes you see it. SD isn't able to show you that detail.

The resolution was not high enough to show it.

Well I wish they would find a way to get rid of it. I have an HP 22 inch computer monitor that has a special film on it that reduces this problem. In fact, movies look better on it than any plasma or lcd I have seen, but of course not the best blacks. I hope that OLED fixes this problem.

Also, shows in HD such as the news and SNL dont seem to have the same problem.

So if a film in the future is shot with 4k (red) or 8k will this fix the problem?

Film has grain..... so...

1) it'll have it if it's film

2) It's not a problem

Look up film-grain on Wikipedia etc.... to see what it is, and why it's there.

....arent you Mr.Know It All You should know that grain is your friend.

Seriously though...Kuros come with this thing called Enhancer Mode with 3 settings, 1 to 3 with 1 being extremely sharp. I am thinking that mebbe your Panny might have something similar. If so then you should perhaps turn it down. Its not much I know but mebbe it will help. Praps someone with the same set or similar Panny model could shed more light.
