Default Does Drinking cause you to crank it up & to what DB @ 20ft?

I know this may have been asked, but I find my self doing this. like right now I know the volume say +25db from an ipod with 256+ encoding,. without pulling out the rat shack DB meter from past test I would say that volume has a low of 120db at 20 ft.

How much do you crank it up when you have had a few drinks?

also its an 80's mix

Diffrent receivers will provide different db levels, so this could easily be subjective depending on what kind and how old your AVR is....

If you go by the volume level that shows up on my 605's front...it will say +50 for what that is worth......

It really depends on what you're drinking. Bourbon and tequilla can make me crank at paint peeling levels.

no the voulme display that is worthless, what is the real volume, not what the display says. I did pull out the meter and volume is low 118 with a peak at 129 db with some old depeche mode off my ipod video

I have have had barrel tile drop from the roof in the past above the main listing room. did not hear the cops at the door

There is another thread where our perspective volume levels are discussed- it seems pretty clear that is impossible to compare them. (by receiver level numbers)

That being said, I know for a fact I turn my system way up when I'm I only know this because when I click on the system the next afternoon- its LOUD

Sounded good at the time

I don't drink but I know I like to push mine to its limits, especially now that I have SACD capabilities.

Dark Side of the Moon was just killer in 5.1 surround.

Ooh Pink Floyd in 5.1? I need to get the ability to play some frickin' SACD's. Damn my stripped-down PS3!

I'd like to hear your opinion on whether the DSD or PCM sounds better to you. I feel they are two distinct sounds, both good but different.

IMO, the DSD has a sharpness to the highs where the PCM has a little boomier low end.

Both are being sent over HDMI from my Oppo BDP-83 to me Denon 3808 receiver.
