Adaptive DRC - Blu-ray Forum

I have a Yamaha 1900 and I was wondering if I should have my adaptive DRC on in the sound menu

Unless you live in a condo or apartment complex and watch movies when everyone's asleep or have an infant that you don't want to disturb, it would be better to leave adaptive DRC off. You'll enjoy your movies a lot more.

Just in case there was any confusion, DRC is Dynamic Range Control- it's going to compress down the "louds" and the "quiets" of a movie soundtrack and make them all more of one level. To me, that kills the experience. I'd leave it off all the time. You'll get a more dynamic, full-sounding experience when you watch a flick.

...when there's an explosion, I want to FEEL it.
