I posted this earlier on the Peter Bogdanovich RIP thread.

We lost two greats on the same day, January 6. Peter Bogdanovich and Sidney Poitier. May they both Rest In Peace.

Regarding Poitier, I can't remember him giving anything less than a stellar performance, from the first film I ever saw him in, Blackboard Jungle to his last theatrical film performance in The Jackal. A true one of a kind icon, the likes of which we will not see again.

Famous people (including beloved and respected artists) die every year. If you judge a year by how many of them are lost, almost every year will be worse than the one before. As the entertainment industry grows every year, more people are involved every year, and will eventually die in increasing numbers as time takes its toll.
