Brilliante Mendoza won best director at Cannes this year for the film Kinatay.

Had to post this for Filipino bragging rights!

It's about the rape and dismemberment of prostitutes.

seriously, it sounds interesting but probably a bit depressing. is it available here yet?

Not sure yet. I might be able to find it at the Filipino video stores in my area. It's cool because usually Filipino movies are so corny and stupid.

I'll see if I can get a hold of a copy and post a review. Most media outlets hated the film and the announcement was met with many "boooos".

well, I did enjoy Touristas...so, maybe I'll give it a try.

Touristas did have Olivia Wilde, though, and I would watch any movie with her in it...
