I'm surprised it tooked them this long to make a bio pic on Lucy. I'm interested to see how this goes.

I haven't caught the sequel/remake-itis like some people here, but I'm definitely over the never-ending flow of biopics.

Don't know much about Ball but did she do enough to warrant a biopic? Other than I Love Lucy, what's there to show?

There was one made in 1991 called Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter. It was a TV movie, though, and not that great from what I remember. It's been years since I saw it. They could definitely make a better one.

I watched it on YouTube. The guy that played Desi sounded identical. The woman that played Lucy not as much. I have a hard time imagining Cate in the role, but she's so good at everything else, I think she could pull it off.

Cate Blanchett’s Lucille Ball Biopic Lands at Amazon Studios
Beatrice Verhoeven | August 7, 2017 @ 11:10 AM

Aaron Sorkin is penning the script

Amazon Studios has acquired Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming Lucille Ball biopic, in which Cate Blanchett is in talks to star as the late actress.

TheWrap reported two years ago that Blanchett was attached to star. Sorkin is penning the script, while Escape Artists Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing.

This marks Amazon’s second solo distribution title following last week’s announcement that the company had acquired Woody Allen’s “Wonder Wheel.” For previous projects, Amazon Studios co-distributed with other companies. “The Big Sick,” for example, was co-distributed with Lionsgate, while “Manchester By The Sea” was co-distributed with Roadside Attractions.

The film will chronicle Ball’s 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz, with whom she starred on the classic TV sitcom “I Love Lucy.” Ball had two children with Arnaz before they divorced in 1960. She married Gary Morton the following year.

Blanchett won the first of two Academy Awards for playing another Hollywood icon, Katharine Hepburn, in Martin Scorsese‘s “The Aviator.” She was also applauded for her performance in Todd Haynes’ “Carol,” for which she was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar.

She will next star in “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Ocean’s Eight” and “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” She is represented by CAA and Wolf-Kasteler Public Relations.

Sorkin last wrote the screenplay for “Steve Jobs” and is the writer and director on Jessica Chastain’s “Molly’s Game,” which is looking at a release in November. He is represented by CAA and PMK*BNC.

No director has been announced as of yet for the project.

I'll watch anything Sorkin writes, and I'll watch anything Cate is in.

I used to watch "I Love Lucy" all the time in repeats while growing up. So I'm there.

Someone on the last page said Ocsar Isaac could play Desi Arnaz, I could get behind that. If we're talking Star Wars actors, Diego Luna sort of looks like a young Arnaz.

Oscar Isaac must play Ricky, the actor needs to have his eye-bulging abilities.

Any Schumer would weirdly be perfect as Ethel.

Nothing against Cate but I kinda wished they went with someone who looked a bit more like Lucy. Maybe Kate Winslet?

As long as she can embody the spirit of Lucy, a little bit of makeup will fix that.

Lucille Ball's face can be painted on almost anybody because her features were so exaggerated by make up. She would have been unrecognizable without make-up.
