Default Later-build Samsung now pillarboxes 4:3!!!

One of my biggest gripes about the BD-P1000 has now been laid to rest. I had a Samsung player with a June build-date, and I swapped it for an August date (one with slightly improved PQ, and colored lights instead of the hourglass). Tonight, I popped on Underworld: Evolution and, for some reason, went to the featurettes, something I woudn't do with this player because I cannot stand watching 4:3 stretched out. Imagine my surprise to see black bars on the sides and 4:3 properly displayed! Further proof that modded players exist!

When the player launched in June, I gave it a try and was turned off by the 4:3 stretch as much as Hitch. I ended up returning it. But I called Samsung Customer Service several times anyway and kept mentioning that 4:3 stretch was a dealbreaker. I know I had nothing to do with this, but I'd like to think that someone at Samsung Customer Service actually listened. And I'm glad that I gave the player a second chance a few weeks ago. BD software has been steadily improving, and apparently so has the player.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.
