Not yet. They were always a step behind the latest technology speccs, but their claim to fame has always been that their video processors work to produce a superior image on a 1080i/720p screen than an "out of the box" 1080p variant.
Even with their DVD players a few years back, they were not progressive scan players but their video processors progressively scanned the image to produce a great picture

Bang & Olufsen is alive and well. Their headsets are considered to be the best in the market.

B&O also makes IcePower amp modules that are integrated in many class D amps from manufacturers such as Rotel and Wyred4Sound. These are very cool and clean sounding AMP's.

BTW, I am a huge fan of their A8 headphones for iPod use.

Usually B&O sells their high-end stuff through their own retail stores. For example, this is one of their stores in Palm Spring, California.

B&O is to electronics as Bose is to speakers: over priced crap, whose performance will be dwarfed by better-informed choices at the same price point (probably cheaper too). Just like Bose, B&O cater to the "lifestyle" (read: form over function) market rather than the A/V conneseur (sp?).

Default B and O TVs

The B and O TVs have spectacular pictures. Their plasmas have a camera on them that automtically checks the screen every 100 hours of use and re-calibrates it to compensate for the change that occurs over time as a palsma screen is used.

That is not true at all. B&O have never been considered to be true High-end. They make products that are aesthetically "minimalist", but one should not confuse that with performance. I am not dissing this company by any means, as I'm sure their producuts are relatively reliable and they certainly have always appealed to those who prefer form over function. "High-End" however is NOT a term I would use in the same breath as speaking the name of their company.

They sell their products by design and brand/image appeal, not so much by specs. I've auditioned their music systems before, doesn't sound good to me IMO. But they definitely have killer-looks.

Agreed--unless the words "is not" also forms part of the sentence!

I believe it was bang and olufsen that developed a sound suppression system which was bought or utilised by another highly known company and went into consumer electronic products and is called dolby (s) noise reduction.

I think the craftsmanship of their equipment chassis is second-to-none. Clean, elegant, stylish...very "Euro" (for better or worse). Most will agree with that.

I can't speak on the specs of their equipment, but I would imagine that it's better than average from a "purely numbers" standpoint. The thought process behind that is this: why make something that looks great but doesn't sound at least decent? Even the least discerning home theater builder will be able to tell crap from non-crap audio/video.

But yeah, their pricing is pretty outrageous. Some people will pay that premium for stuff that looks nice, though. I can't say that I fault that logic completely, especially for those who really want to keep it as classy as possible in their home and don't need the absolute best-performing gear, like people with really nice museum-type houses (like the ones in the galleries on the B&O website).

The Blu-ray player in BeoVision 7-40 includes the so-called BD Live feature
And from this.... I'm assuming this is without the fancy rotating stand, or Blu-ray player.... (and it only comes in the 40" as indicated by the 7-40 )

The TV is available in a choice of colours – natural aluminium, black, dark grey, red, blue and gold – and with a range of stand options. Prices start from just over £9000 including stand and speaker, but vary according to the configuration chosen.

I also thought the same thing. My guess is that it was some type of language translation issue.

Absolutely spot-on assesment.
I saw the B-O store in Calgary last week and noted as much to the people I was with.
