Well I need a new card and I will be getting a hd tv sometime in the near future. Is it better to get a graphics card with full hdmi out or is it fine with the adaptor? Most tvs have input for dvi(or w/e its called) so I just wanna see what you guys thing. I think I might get something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150351
I want something with a better cooling system on it. |

Yes, DVI and HDMI can handle the same video signal. DVI is just HDMI minus the audio. If you are looking at using HDMI why not try out the ATI cards. Some of them are capable of sending video and audio through DVI, into their special DVI/HDMI adapter, and out to an HDMI cable.
The trick is that they use the unused pins on DVI to transfer the audio. A typical DVI connection and a typical DVI/HDMI adpater do not use these unused pins. Therefore only the adapter and connections supplied with these ATI cards can handle video and audio. |
