Years ago, I saw the great 1971 drama Born to Win on a crappy pan & scan DVD; it looked like a VHS rip. However, I did think the film was great. Good story and acting; as I've mentioned before, IMHO the '70's was the best decade for cinema.
The movie starred George Segal as a drug addict in NYC; among many others, DeNiro had an early cameo as well. In addition to the good story, this was a fantastic time-capsule of early '70's New York. I don't think this film has ever gotten a decent DVD release, and I know it's never been released on Blu. Here's hoping we get this on Blu at some point; it's an amazing film, and very underrated/obscure these days. I definitely think this is worthy of being in the Criterion Collection, but that's me. |
