Default It seems like the studios are dropping prices...

I wouldn't put it on the same level as DVD pricing obviously, but catalog movies are going for under $15, and new releases for like $20-25.

I knew that blu-ray wouldn't succeed at the super high pricing but it looks like little by little they are realizing they have to be competitive against Digital Downloads

Except Disney of course who recently raised their MSRPs by $5.

I noticed Inkheart has pretty cheap for a new release in Canada. Probably has more to do with how it performed theatrically though. Haven't really noticed any of the new stuff coming out at reduced prices up hear otherwise.

Future Shop as drop prices on many on their BD. Inkheart was probably cheap because well it did not do well in theaters, too bad it is a very good moive IMO. Future Shop as the James Bond BD at $9.99, my friend got a Goldfinger Steelbook at that price.

The more people adopt Blu, and the more we buy, the cheaper it will become.

Some catalog titles are cheaper, but have you seen the prices of catalog titles like Forrest Gump and Braveheart? $39.99 MSRP ($27.99 on Amazon). That's as much as a day-and date new release.

My Wal-Mart's entire $14.95 kiosk is gone, that makes me kind of sad especially since I was still on the fence about getting the 3 Mission Impossible movies.

Ya Disney needs to stop ripping us off. They know we can't resist though.

I agree....Disney is ripping off everyone with their prices...but at least their Blus are top notch quality stuff.....as for Inkheart in Canada on Blu...it's cheap because it's released through Alliance...which most of their blu's are no more than $30cdn......Inkheart goes for $24.99cdn on release day....if you have patience it will be a $15 blu before summer is up

I do not see it as a competition against digital downloads as much as it is the fact that the format is becoming more popular and more mainstream. As it becomes more mainstream, the prices will be more reasonable.

Totally agree, I would expect some real deal for Q4...it is going to be exciting with all the great movies getting released at that time. Gladiator and Braveheart are pricy, but well worth it.

The studios know that people will buy those two titles if they charge $15 or $30.

Yea, most of the new ones are still to steep for me but a lot of the catalogs are cheap enough. Picked up Black Hawk Down for $16.99 at Rogers Video here in Canada.

Yup. Their $15 section was up and running for about a month, and all of a sudden it vanished.

WalMart (in my area) still sucks - their entire Blu section is limited to one end-cap unit. Having said that, I did buy five discs there at 10.00 each about 6 weeks ago. They still have the same titles at that price (all Lionsgate) - nothing new on sale. However, last week BestBuy had a ton of Warner titles at 15.99 - including BEETLEJUICE, AMADEUS, and DIRTY HARRY - all of which I bought.
