Default Thinking a new computer is in order

My current is about 4 years old, and I've started taking on more ambitious projects like Sound and Video editing.

I was looking at one model I saw that offered a Phenom II X4, 8GB DDR3 RAM, DVD Writer/BD-ROM Drive, 640GB Hard drive, and a 512MB GeForce card for just under $900 after sales tax. This is by no means final.

Any thoughts about where to get the new machine, and what kind of deal I can get?

Not half bad there. And a 24" Hi-def LCD...can I connect non-computer devices to it too?

# Signal Input HDMI, DVI-D, VGA

thats what its got for inputs, so as long as what you're hooking up has those, yes.

and if you're serious about editing, stick to intel. i'm a life long amd fan, but these days, you only go amd to save money. and honestly..you dont save much anymore

I do get a corporate discount with Dell; I will look at this one a lil closer.
