Default Mighty Aphrodite

I was curious if anyone had heard anything about this fantastic Movie?

From what I can tell, it's never been released in the U.S. and there are Many International Versions.

Does anyone know the quality or if all the versions are the same.

Or has anyone talked about releasing it in the U.S.?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx!

I have the Japanese version. It was around $15 or so and looks very nice.

I have the version from Denmark. No issues and the PQ and AQ look good.

I always assumed, "hold up well," meant you had seen it before?

As for Mira - I could make the joke that "If you were listening to her accent, then you musta missed the "Visual Part" of her Performance. I think she's a Fantastic Actress. Her Acting talent shows though in Beautiful Girls. I think she's quite wonderful as an actress.

I watched it last night - I thought it was fantastic.

Nice, simply Ironic story that blatantly (and humorously) admits its Deus ex machina in the dialogue. Funny too. Very similar Story Arc to older Woody Films like "Play It Again Sam," "Annie Hall," and "Manhattan" with Woody's Forth-Wall-Breaking and Narrations substituted by the Greek Chorus.

And the MUSIC is Awesome!

These folks like it a lot too!

i have only seen the movie once and it was recent. i say it doesnt hold up well because i generally like woody allens films..maybe there are one or two here and there that dont hit me. i like mira too, but for her to win a best actress for this was questionable to me. i was expecting like a powerful performance. it seems they gave it to her because it was hollywoods it girl playing a prostitute.

I was thinking about buying the Greek version. Fitting, don't you think?

Still haven't seen this one, I keep hoping it'll cycle onto one of the streaming services as Allen movies tend to do.

It's become very fashionable to distance oneself from Allen. Twilight Time seems to be the only North American company interested in releasing his films. So if anybody will release it, the odds are it will be them.

Are they currently dealing with Paramount?

I'm thinking Play It Again, Sam.

It looks like TT have stopped, too. I don't think we're going to see any Woody Allen catalog titles coming out in the US for a good while.

That'd be a bummer. I've been waiting for either an American or UK release of Bullets Over Broadway for a long while.

Wasn't Mighty Aphrodite & Bullets over Broadway part of the Miramax catalogue now owned by Lionsgate?
