Default Quick question about Dayton subwoofers, and parts express

Anyone know the difference between these 2 subs? in comparison terms?

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=295-464

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=295-466

And how has parts express been for ppl who have used them, ive heard a few good things about them over the past year or so, i have been keeping an eye on them

My post will not help you at all regarding the subwoofers you linked to but I would like to comment on their customer service.

The one experience I had with their customer service lead me to be a permanent customer. I purchased a defective subwoofer cable from them. I called them to request an RMA number and the girl immediately refunded my credit card. When I asked for an RMA so I can send the cable back, she told me to just go ahead and keep it.

I know it was just a subwoofer cable that cost like $15 bucks. Big whoop. But they saved me the hassle of going to the post office, waiting in line, etc. etc.

Sorry for the long post. Just want you to know that if you do buy from them, they'll take care of you if something goes wrong.

Each of the speakers has a large number of user comments/reviews. Try reading through them and make up your own mind.

well Bill.......

Why would i look under the comments of people who just own one??? I was asking for a comparison OF the two.. Not customer feedback on how they liked the sub..

I have the smaller brother of the first driver which I used to upgrade a 10" Kenwood Sub (check out my gallery to see it in more detail). It is the Dayton RSS265HF-4 10" Reference HF Driver. I have found that it is great for music as well as movies, with great control over the higher-lows and has a tight bass type of sound (if you like boomy, at least with the 10", then it may not be for you). It is an aluminum construction which is comparable to what is used in the Martin Logan subs. I can state that my experience with it has been - outstanding. The difference between the two models, as far as I know is mainly that one is more of a High Fidelity (HF) and one is more of a High Output (HO) driver. Good luck.

exactly what i was looking for , TY!!!

Also without me creating another thread, you wouldnt happen to know the audible differences between the HF/HO and the MK3 ?

Its hard for me to tell exactly what i like audibly.. Music i like a tighter sound, movies and games, idk, i just want it loud and low lol.. Which usually leads to boomy..

Im sure with a few enclosure builds i could make the HF/HO work.. which is half the fun

Also on the HF it did look to me like it was more based towards sealed enclosures from the specs, and it did say in the description that it was designed for smaller enclosures i believe.. hmm

I bought the sub120 before I bought my PA-120 and didn't like it so I sent it back no questions asked and no restocking fee...just return shipping. Very nice and helpful people at PE.

The HF (High Fidelity) model is for home theater applications and is considered to be more musical and refined. The HO (High Output) is for car applications and is considered to be louder. It is more suitable for bass freaks.

The HF model has a lower free resonance of 25Hz and requires a larger cabinet.

The HO model has a higher free resonance of 32Hz and requires a smaller cabinet.
