Default Memorex MVBD2510C

For any of the other unlucky suckers to own a Memorex blu-ray player, here is the official response from their tech support regarding firmware:

"In this case as the product has been discontinued, we are not going to be
releasing new firmware updates. Feel free to contact us at 1-877-363-6673 so
we can check what option we can offer you."

What wonderful customer service.

i know that sucks but, i've said it before in another post about insignia, players that hover around the 200 & below mark are to be considered "throw-aways" by those who buy them as they are by those who make them. By the way my older machine that i now have in the basement connected to my computer monitor is an insignia.

i would only advise you if you have the money, or if you don't save up and buy an Oppo blu player. It's the best out there for 3 times it's cost and it has the most incredible customer service i've seen thus far for a player. I have an Oppo blu player so i can tell you this and know it's the truth!

best of luck to ya and again, sorry about the suck azz service and "no, it's not live it's b-otch azz memorex!"

I purchased one of these Memorex players last November knowing full well it would eventually be a "throw-away" player. I just didn't expect it to be so soon. I've had no problems that a (very) occasional firmware update couldn't fix. At least the cheap little sucker introduced me to the joys of blu-ray. I'm hooked.

Insignia is a much, much, much better player than the Memorex. It's like comparing a bike missing 1 wheel to a Corvette.

I had to physically take the Memorex apart and hook the drive to a PC just to eject a disc since it didn't like the BD-J on it.

So, I called them back, This time I only waited 1 minutes a tech answered and told me he would send me a firmware disk, that maybe the CD-R i had was bad ( Whatever ) But he did tell me that they were going to continue to support this unit with future firmware upgrades.

We will see, I hope so for my father in laws sake. I bought this unit for him last Christmas, I should have ponied up the extra $80.00 and bought a better unit !!

I just got off the phone with Memorex, they never said anything about this? In fact, he told me they had three Blu-ray players, and they would continue to work to develop new firmware updates for all of them...all in all, it was actually a good call in terms of customer service calls (well..presuming what he said was accurate )
