Default Christmas should be the real indicator

Chistmas 07 may be the most crucial time for Blu Ray. If Sony markets Blu Ray/PS3 correctly this Christmas could make Blu Ray. I would suggest that Sony remasters all of the James Bonds and puts them out seperatley as well as in box sets, they have to do this at the same time they can't stagger it like they did with the DVD releases. Fox could do their part also and release the Alien Quadrilogy as well as the Die Hards (Live Free or Die Hard included). Finally Disney could talk to Pixar and get them to release both Toy Stories, Finding Nemo,The Incredibles and Cars both as a box set and individually. This is my idea of how the High Definition disk war could be over in a year, hopefully.

Fox distributes the MGM stuff, which is all of Bond except Casino Royale. All of them were remastered for last year's box sets by Lowry Digital, they're all fine. You'll see them in HD for the next Bond movie.

Die Hard is Fox's Xmas biggie
Harry Potter is Warner's
Jack Ryan for Paramount
Pirates Trilogy and Pixar movies for Disney

Pixar does what Disney tells them

No movie company dumps all their big franchises/movies at once, it's not going to happen

That time of year will also bring us the Spidey movies, which will make for some nice ammunition against the other side.

Universal doesn't really have anything to pull out, and given that they're the only ones offering an exclusive item. All their best franchises are tied up with Amblin.

Let's not forget about Anchor Bay. If they can get all the Dead movies(Romero), Evil Dead movie, and Halloween movies done in time for the Christmas season, that would get my vote. Then there is the Lord Of The Rings. As many posts as there have been about this trilogy, I know this would sell like hot cakes.

Start saving up or work a second job starting this summer. Just getting the BDs and games you want would be expensive, let alone gifts for other people.

2007 Christmas is about giving... to yourself!

I totally forgot about Sin City (or should I have put Sin City in Blu lol) that should do amazing business. I mentioned a few releases up above in a previous post but there are probably a lot more I could have put on the list. I am looking forward to seeing other people suggestions.

this is how it should go
Die Hard 1,2,3,4 Fox
Oceans, Matrix, Harry Potter Warner
Sergio Leone Anthology, James Bond movies MGM
Spiderman Movies Sony
Pirates 1,2,3 Finding Nemo, Cars, Ratatouille Disney
Jurassic Park Universal (best they can do)
Most of these movies has been hinted by the studios within next 12 months max so christmas i think will be a good time

I think the choice would be obvious for anyone

Replace Finding Nemo w/ Chronicles of Narnia and I agree with your list. Other than Cars and most likely Ratatouille there will be no other Pixar releases this year according to Disney.

There's enough firepower in the day and date releases to wipeout HD DVD.

don't forget they have the bourne series. ultimatum should be out by then.
and knocked up as well. oh and evan almighty. then theres chuck and larry (sandler movie) although i'm a bourne fan, i dont think any of those will be powerhouses. we have die hard, ratatouille, the simpsons movie, fantastic 4 and as mentioned...the spidey trilogy going to blu. if you take any of those alone, i'm betting that each one of em would outsell the total of universal releases. but maybe thats just me. christmas will definitely supply enough nails for hd dvd's coffin. i'm very interested to see what the marketing strategy will be. the prices should be super competitive.

personally i dont think universal will bring out there big movies on HD dvd, i think they know there done, and just release them on bluray instead when the switch sides.
They really cant beat the list that bluray has to come.
