no.. It makes your 1.3 seem smart, since it wont be able to do anything the 1.3 will be able to do for a few years.. Unless u want to fully take advantage of HT 3D, In which case you would need the 1.4 for dual 1080p viewing... And im sure monoprice will sell 1.4 HDMIs that are easily just as good for under $40

It was the same insignificant feeling that I had years ago, as a young man, when I approached the pharmacist and asked him for a condom and he handed me an "Extra Large."

100% correct. When I was talking to the BB tech, he was VERY convincing and if I did not know better and was looking for the best for my system, I might have purchased.

On a serious note, I kind of can't wait until this technology does become the norm. Being able to carry higher-definition media and an ethernet connection is going to be so awesome. The gear that will be built around it will also be pretty sweet. A/V receivers will probably start coming with built-in ethernet hubs (or better yet, full on routers, although I don't know how that will all work as far as interference issues goes). I would love to do away with the extra cables. I currently have one going to each component, so that's a log of extra çrap that could be gone once 1.4 takes off.
I'll probably hold out on making the switch until it can can support gigabit ethernet, but I'm sure with the way technology is going, that won't be long. |
