Default Viera Cast and BluRay Live any good?

Title question. Just wondering if these features are "good", or just a fun distraction from time to time. I don't have them hooked up right now because of my network structure and I'm curious if it's even worth it to get it up and running.

On a 2nd note, anyone know how to update a panny's firmware without using a network connection? Anyway to use a thumbdrive or something like that?

I've used Viera Cast for Amazon On Demand and YouTube access through my Panasonic plasma. It's pretty neat but not something I would use all the time nor expect to have the same quality as a BD.

BTW, I couldn't care less about the weather and stock features.
