Possible SteelBook™ Re-releases and Discussion

Early Word is they are re-releasing Iron Man and Wanted SteelBook this Friday from Media Mkt? Any confirmation from Germany SteelBook Camp on this?

A PM, lol, I surfed the German Blu-ray Site and found nothing, however my German is almost non existent so I look for key words and I could easily overlook it.

Thats why I figured I would ask rather than spend alot of time looking for information. I asked 2 German conctacts I know that help me via email but they are probably in the same boat as you...Gotta Ask

I think all Steelbook Collectors learned one thing the last months: nothing is impossible!

Media Markt exclusive Steelbooks at Amazon
Amazon exclusive Steelbooks at Media Markt
Future Shop exclusive Steelbooks at Best Buy

I am sure one day at least the Iron Man Steelbook will be in stores again.

Everything you mentioned has a reason, The german instances I have no comment other than the members deemed the last batch as Media Mkt exclusives and least but not most important, Best Buy did NOT sell FutureShop exclusives, The members are making that assumption. I am sure Best Buy was on board with the Disney SteelBooks when the contract was signed, They are owned by the same company and in 2 different countries

I understand this. But now we have dozens of Steelbooks we thought only one Shop will sell them. And a lot of that Steels were OOP. Now they are sold for 15€ or less.

With the Future Shop Steelbooks it is more heavy. In groupbuys in Germany we had to pay 40-50€ for every Disney Steelbook. And now you can get them for a price like ~30€. Thats frustrating.

Canada assumed and pumped it up to be Canadian Exclusive as they broke the news first, created demand. Its enough to piss anyone off but its really noones fault, demand drove the price....Now I can get you any of these for 34.99$ all day

Honestly i understand why alot of people would be happy about a Re-release of Rare Steelbooks but in my opinion i think its a bad idea. I have quite a few rare steelbooks and a re-release would crush their value. and not only that but there are quite a few rare ones i don't have and as much as i would like paying alot less for a re-release, it would also take the fun out of trying to find it and decide if its worth the money or not. just my opinion.

This is the face of what is to come...

I believe the most popular country for steelbook editions is Germany... so they are ahead of the curve more than the rest of us.

As stated in the past Scanavo is not against the idea of doing re-releases of North American exclusives.

I totally agree with you, Mike.

You should have waited, Its likely, especially with Germany it will be re-released via some Media Mkt promo in the coming months

I dont trust many German 'Exclusives' anymore

I'm not surprised by what happened to the FS "exclusives" and even now the re-releases on Amazon.de of former MM "exclusives. I've always mentioned that any custom production run requires a minimum run which many of us already know. However most companies will rarely procure just the minimum as I'm sure the unit cost is high. I expect now most will possibly order at least double the minimum to achieve upwards of a 40% reduction in unit cost. When Sleeping Beauty was released at FS in such limited quantities, it cofirmed my suspicion that more copies will be available somewhere. The numbers added up were impossible given that the retail price of Sleeping Beauty didn't cost more than other Steelbook releases.

Well, I do hope they won't reprint Iron Man MM. I'm hoping it will also rise in value when Iron Man 2 gets released. I only paid $50 for my copy when it was first released from a very helpful German member here (thanks AB) so I won't be too much of a loss for me. But if they do reprint it, then reprint Wanted so I can finally get it

Yeah, but all of the ones I see listed right now were the Media Markt "exclusives" released a couple of months ago.

There are no new steels in that bunch.
