Default Think PS3 could get gamma curve with firmware?

Some premium Blu-ray players have multipoint gamma correction curves. There is one in my Denon 3800BDCI, and I know that some of the Pioneer players have them. I'm sure there are others. It's an extremely nice feature to use with my LCD display that on its own has exceptional blacks, but is lacking a little in shadow detail. By a little boost in the gamma at the two lowest points on the curve in the BD player, I can compensate for this and bring out some details without washing out the deepest blacks. It's really the only thing missing from the PS3 (I seldom use my analog connections, and I seldom watch SDDVD's anymore) that would make me consider it for my only playback device.

Is this something that could be done via firmware? If so, I would begin an appeal to them to add it as a feature.
