It won't be, but it's likely that Desire will be released in a region-free disc by Universal themselves in Spain (they've already released Morocco, Shanghai Express, Blonde Venus, The Devil Is A Woman, and Angel there, as well as dozens of other Universal-Paramount classics), or from Elephant Films in France.

I can't believe I almost dismissed this with "I already have the Criterion and Indicator box sets" before I realized why would Kino be able to issue a Criterion movie, leading me to remember that this was not a Von Sternberg movie and was her first after their collaborations!
The artwork is stunning, hopefully they will be able to maintain the vibrancy of the colors on print.

No, Union is saying they mistook that it was in the Von Sternberg/Dietrich set.

I had this in my collection and then got rid of it. I thought the extended "car chase" which was more annoying than exciting with the horn blaring was just a waste of plot. It went on for about 10-ish minutes!
I also didn't feel the chemistry at all.

To each their own, its just I didn't care for this one. Got rid of it months ago- I hope someone was able to pickup my former "like new" copy at Half Price books for a nice price!

Question regarding Indicator's blu-ray release of Frank Borzage's "Desire" (1936). I just had a look at the screencaps on DVDBeaver: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film10/blu-...re_blu-ray.htm
I know, one shouldn't judge a transfer by screenshots alone, but at first glance, Kino's transfer appears to have better contrast and more grain. Kino's disc is from August 2021 and was advertised as a "brand new 2K master". The Indicator (January 2024) is supposed to be a "2022 restoration from a 4K scan". Has anyone actually seen the two discs and can report on the picture quality of this release?
