Default Figures or Toys

I see alot of people on here that have figures of movie characters on display in their HT. I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on where to find some of these great looking figures. Thanks.

Depend on the type

Gentel Giant or Sideshow are extremely well done but expensive

Are you looking for action figure type stuff or more 12" collector's fare? DC Direct has a line of 12" super hero figures that they've been doing for a few years that are pretty nice. If you're into The Dark Knight, Hot Toys has a couple of AWESOME looking Batman/Joker 12 inchers (I made a thread with links to them here). As the above poster mentioned, Gentle Giant and Sideshow have some pretty quality stuff as well.

Neca and Mezco are two of the bigger names for super detailed action figure type stuff, as is DC Direct for DC superheroes and Marvel Select for Marvel stuff. McFarlane Toys had a line of action figure type stuff that started in '98 called Movie Maniacs. It started out with mostly horror characters but branched out into sci-fi a bit. Some of those, while older, are still imo the best toy versions of many of the characters. The first series Movie Maniacs figures of Leatherface and Jason (Jason's mask was originally planned to be removable, but that idea was scrapped somewhere along the way. However, his face was fully sculpted and with a bit of care, the mask can be removed . . . kind of a cool easter egg) are a couple of my favorites, and the Robocop figure from one of the later series was very well done as well.

If you want busts then check out Gentle Giant, same for statues along with Sideshow collectibles.

Depends on what you want. I have a pretty large collection of Gentle Giant busts and statues, a few Sideshow statues, and quite a few DC Direct statues. Most of them were bought on Amazon pretty cheaply, especially the DC Direct statues. I would advise to look into the statues and busts instead of the figures, as the figures tend to look kind of cheap while the statues, when properly displayed, look more...mature.

+1..I collect busts from LOTR from Gentle Giant. I feel Gentle Giant busts are made extremely well and are much cheaper than Sideshow Collectibles. I have a few in my gallery....

+2 for GG.

I have pieces from Sideshow and Gentle Giant.

For the Price Gentle Giant is hard to top.But for some items,Sideshow offers some pieces that are simply amazing.

And if you are a Star Wars fan,Master Replicas and eFX make replicas of lightsabers, blasters, helmets, etc. from Star Wars(and some pieces from other movies)

Especially for Star Wars collectibles, Master Replica and eFX are good sites.

Hollywood Collector's Group (HCG) has some nice items; I have a 1:1 Alien Head Bust arriving today! And you could check out these 2 forums which more directly deal with collectible statues, etc. Statueforum.comhttp://www.statueforum.com/ and Sideshowfreaks.com (deals with more than just Sideshow releases)http://sideshowcollectors.com/forums...isplay.php?f=4.

Depends on what your looking for. Figures and Toys sound to me like your looking for Collectible Action Figures, not busts and memorabilia. Can I just clarify what it is your exactly looking for? As said earlier ... alot of the high end collectibles come from Gentle Giant or Sideshow.

As previously mentioned, if budget is a concern MacFarlane has released some nice pieces in the Movie Maniacs line for both the Matrix (The Sentinel is fantastic) as well as Aliens and Predator. I like both the Jaws and Legend diorama displays as well. Definately more toy-looking than the sideshow sculptures, but at a fraction of the cost.

Amazon

I got this Terminator at a comic book store but amazon has it a buck cheaper and won't charge me tax. It moves a lot and the rods move in and out of the cylinders on the front and back of legs and arms.

Also got a McFarlane Alien and egg around the same size, 7". Got it at a Toy Store. For me the price under $20 and it won't take up too much room are important. I'd love to have huge collectibles, but I don't have the space and can't justify the cash.

thanks for all the replies. I am looking for something that is a decent price and size but look good, not to much like a toy if that makes any sense.

Not necessarily. Depends on the company and how much you're willing to spend. Look at my gallery for a few examples.

I'm looking for Star Wars and Lord of the Rings Busts and/or statues. Are there any good websites aside from SideShow's website?
